Myst V: End of Ages due this autumn

The "final episode" according to publisher Ubisoft.

The Myst series is to come to an end this autumn, by the sound of it, when Ubisoft publishes Myst V: End of Ages, described as the final episode. Cyan Worlds is once again hard at work on the PC/Mac title, and Myst co-creator Rand Miller is leading the team on End of Ages, "bringing closure to the Myst storyline via its most dramatic and immersive experience to date".

The game will pick up immediately after Myst IV, as players are given the responsibility of restoring the lost empire of the D'ni, an ancient civilisation who thrived for thousands of years before meeting with a great catastrophe. It aims to keep up the series' high standard of visuals in a fully 3D environment, with the usual mixture of adventure, puzzling and story working together to draw players in.

"Myst is more than a game, it's an experience, and in many cases, a lifestyle," said Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft's North American division. "Cyan Worlds will deliver the final chapter in what has been a phenomenal run of success, both critically and commercially. We know that Myst V: End of Ages is something people will want to be a part of, something memorable that will resound with players for a lifetime."

At the moment there isn't much else to say, but we should see more info emerging soon. In the meantime, keep an eye on myst5.ubi.com, where you should be able to find more details sooner or later.
