Settlers for sixth instalment

Blue Byte plans new city builder.

Blue Byte is working on a sixth game in the Settlers strategy series for PC, the developer and publisher Ubisoft revealed this week.

Due out sometime next year and currently dubbed The Settlers VI, the new game has been in development since spring 2005 and aims to be the most graphically impressive take on the series formula of city building, whilst expanding on it in ways that have universal appeal.

"We want to appeal to fans of The Settlers series while ensuring the greatest possible accessibility to newcomers," said Odile Limpach, Managing Director of Ubisoft Germany and Austria.

"Our development studio in Düsseldorf has a clear goal for The Settlers VI: to produce the best The Settlers game of all time."

Blue Byte recently completed work on a 10th anniversary update to The Settlers II, which is available now.
