Namco working on next-gen

Making sure it gets maximum value out of its tools.

Namco is already working on tools to power its next-generation console games, according to Namco CT vice president Yoichi Haraguchi, who said as much in the latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu.

"Namco is already developing tools for next generation hardware," he said, although it sounds like Namco is wary of the format sucking up vast resources compared to previous formats - something that we've been hearing from a lot of developers lately.

"If we can apply the tools that we've made to other titles, we'll be able to reduce the development costs associated with making a single game. Thus, if we get the chance, we'd definitely like to cooperatively develop a game in this fashion in the future," Haraguchi said.
