Ultima Online's rulers have taken steps to sort out a large number of users who were using the MMORPG's cheque system to store enormous amounts of gold created by manipulating game-exploits.

Hence the amusing headline - EA has terminated over 180 user accounts for contravening the game's Rules of Conduct, and permanently removed approximately 15 trillion gold pieces from the world.

Those of you who were storing large amounts of gold in cheque form for reasons unrelated to skulduggery need not fear though - because in most cases you'll find the money where you left it in a brown bag, or in rare cases as an item you'll need a GM's help to convert into cash.

For full details, head over to the game's official website.
