American publisher DreamCatcher Games has issued a statement advising gamers to steer clear of a leaked multiplayer build of first-person shooter Painkiller, which recently joined the ranks of PC titles to flood warez channels well in advance of release.

According to DreamCatcher, the leaked build is a demo that had been meant for press consumption only, and boasts just a fraction of the content and quality that we'll see in the full game and the official demo, which is due out in a month's time.

Developed by People Can Fly, Painkiller is due out in the US in March, with an Xbox version expected later in the year.
