Dettori races into action

Horse racing legend signed up.

Not content with winning horse races, owning restaurants and hawking pizzas, superstar jockey Frankie Dettori has now decided to expand his empire into the world of gaming.

Frankie Dettori Racing, for PC, PS2 and Xbox, will star the man himself and feature officially licensed events including Royal Ascot, Flemington Race Course, The Caulfield Cup and the Emirates Melbourne Cup. You can see some screenshots here.

A variety of game modes are on offer including Jockey Challenge, Betting Party and Career Mode, which gives you the chance to breed horses, attend auctions and manage stables. All versions will have online multiplayer support.

We're promised "highly detailed graphics", with realistic horses, jockeys and weather effects and accurately-rendered race courses. The animations and motion capture are being done by Weta Digital, the VFX wizards who worked on the Lord of the Rings movies.

Frankie Dettori Racing will be published by Player One this November.
