Dungeon Siege film planned

Boll KG buys up more movie rights.

Film company Boll KG (or Vierte Boll Kino Beteiligungs-GmbH & Co. KG to its friends) has continued its recent spate of rights acquisitions by snapping up Gas Powered Games' Dungeon Siege RPG for the movie treatment.

Boll KG is already working on Alone in the Dark and BloodRayne films, with its House of the Dead film currently screening in more than 1500 cinemas in North America thanks to distributor Artisan Entertainment.

According to executive producer and director Dr. Uwe Boll, filming should begin in late 2004 with a budget in the range of $50 million. "Dungeon Seige transcends the videogame genre and appeals to mainstream entertainment audiences," says Boll of GPG's PC title.

"Based on the success of House of the Dead, I believe Dungeon Siege contains major crossover potential because of its unique blend of action and fantasy, on the order of Lord of the Rings," he added. We reckon Eddie Murphy should be brought on board to handle the role of the donkey.

Gas Powered Games recently launched a standalone expansion for Dungeon Siege called Legends of Aranna.
