New racer Voltage revealed

Faster than lightning.

Lexicon has taken the wraps off its new futuristic racing game for PC, 360 and PS3.

Dubbed Voltage, it takes place in 3005 and lets you zip around seven different planets in our Solar system.

Your craft will hover, just like in WipEout, and will make use of three fuel types to reach ridiculous speeds: electrical, nuclear, and the hypothetical subatomic power tachyon - capable of propelling you over the speed of light, apparently.

And thanks to various fuel-based bonuses collectable on the way around, you'll be able to explore tracks in different ways - jumping up to higher sections of the course or flying up vertical inclines.

There's 15 maps to race around in total, in full single-player championship mode or against your friends in multiplayer.

It's being created by Czech developer IBA Group and is expected to be released in autumn 2008.

It looks a little rough around the edges at the moment to us, but you can make your own mind up by heading over to our Voltage gallery for the first shots.
