New Project Cars game announced

But...

Project Cars, the motorsport racing series from Slighty Mad Studios, is getting a mobile spin-off.

It's called Project Cars GO - yes, just like Pokémon - and is in development at US developer Gamevil.

Project Cars GO is pitched as "an authentic and enjoyable mobile racing game". The announcement is thin on other details, but there will be licensed cars and vehicle customisation.

No release date was mentioned.

"Alongside Gamevil, Project CARS GO will put players in the driver's seat to experience the adrenaline pumping racing game in a whole new way," Slightly Mad Studios boss Ian Bell said. "The racing genre has a large, dedicated fan base, who are going to be stomping the gas pedal and burning rubber very soon."

Project Cars 2 launched last year for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Eurogamer's resident wheel spokesman Martin Robinson was lukewarm on it.
