Move outsells Kinect 2:1 in Japan

Sony shifted 170,000 units in 2010.

Sony's Move peripheral outsold Microsoft's Kinect by a factor of around two to one last year, according to new sales figures.

Media Create data reported by Andriasang revealed that Sony's motion controller shifted 170,000 units, including bundles, whereas Kinect sold 90,000.

Given the enormous margin by which the PlayStation 3 outsells the Xbox 360 on a weekly basis in the country, these numbers might not bring Sony much cause for celebration. In 2010, 195,563 Xbox 360s were sold, compared to 1,407,126 PlayStation 3s.

Back in November, Sony announced that it had sold 4.1 million Move controllers worldwide following its September launch.
