Minor 360 dashboard update released

Not the big one, so hold your avatar horses.

Microsoft has popped out an Xbox 360 system update, but not the one you are probably hoping for.

This one is to "prepare for future growth of the service" and does nothing but move some scenery around behind the curtains, according to Major Nelson on his blog.

We've given up referring to him as Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb; he has forgotten himself and so has the internet.

The service overhaul that will introduce avatars and Windows Vista-like dashboard organisation will arrive sometime this "fall", or autumn in our language, which could be as late as November.

We'll probably go straight for the pirate costume.
