Microsoft announces Xbox One Media Remote

Motion-activated backlit buttons illuminate when you pick it up.

Microsoft has announced the Xbox One Media Remote that leaked earlier this month.

The remote lets you control video playback for Blu-ray movies and streaming video on Xbox One. The motion-activated backlit buttons illuminate as soon as you pick it up "allowing it to be used in the darkest of rooms while playing games, watching TV shows, movies and more", Microsoft said. It's out in early March.

It also includes dedicated Back and OneGuide buttons. The OneGuide button lets you access TV shows and movies through the Xbox program guide.

You can also use the media remote to control your TV/receiver power and volume through Kinect.

In the US the Xbox One Media Remote costs $24.99. We're chasing a UK price now.
