Live Arcade for Windows

This year. Maybe.

Microsoft may be launching its Live Arcade service for Windows as soon as this year.

The alleged confirmation came from a panel of unspecified speakers at the recent Gamefest 2007 technology conference in Seattle.

However, we're still waiting for Microsoft to get back to us with confirmation.

Games for Windows Live has recently made its mark on the PC market, thanks to titles like the cross-platform Shadowrun and Halo 2 Vista. And while the addition of Live Arcade would be a logical next step, desktop competition is considerably more fierce - from casual games portals to digital distributors like Steam.
