Kinect supports three languages at launch

Updated with Microsoft comment.

Update: Microsoft has refused to clarify the matter.

"Voice control is an exciting part of the Kinect for Xbox 360 controller-free experience and we can confirm that it will be available at launch in November 2010," a spokesperson told Eurogamer this morning. "We do not have additional details to share about local voice availability at this time."

Original story: Reports have surfaced that state Kinect will only recognise three languages at launch: English, Japanese and Mexican Spanish.

Word spilled from the ongoing Kinect beta test.

Website Elpias discovered that only Mexican Spanish - which is different to European Spanish - was supported. Xboxygen, meanwhile, produced an image that touted Japanese and Mexican Spanish support, as well as recognition for British, Canadian and American English.

Microsoft has yet to confirm or deny any of this.

Kinect launches in Europe on 10th November.
