With just a couple of weeks to go until the new 3DS is unveiled at E3, Nintendo has dropped the price of previous iterations in Japan.

As reported by Kotaku, the cost of the DSi XL is being cut from ¥20,000 (around £150) to ¥18,000 (£130). The DSi is also falling in price from ¥18,900 (£140) to ¥15,000 (£110).

On top of all that, three new DSi XL colours are being released in Japan. Blue, Yellow and Green models will hit the shops on 19th June.

Nintendo of Europe told Eurogamer there are "no plans right now" to introduce the new colours here. But can we expect a price cut?

"We will be making a statement about our plans in Europe later on today and we appreciate your patience until that time," said a spokesperson.
