Hollenshead: No Doom 4 at QuakeCon

But it will "absolutely blow you away".

id Software boss Todd Hollenshead has said that Doom 4 will not be shown at QuakeCon 2010 despite rumours to the contrary.

"The guys are working hard on it but we're not quite at the point where we're ready to give a demonstration on it at this point," Hollenshead said during his introduction to John Carmack's keynote on Thursday afternoon.

Hollenshead said that the Doom 4 team wasn't prepared to show anything until it will "absolutely blow you away".

Fans had hoped to see more of Doom 4 after John Carmack - new to Twitter - tweeted that he would be making an announcement during his QuakeCon keynote.

That turned out to be a stunning 60fps technical demonstration of Rage running on iPhone 4.
