HMV's flagship Oxford Street store shuts down today

Will become a Sports Direct.

HMV's flagship store in London's Oxford Street will close its doors tonight after nearly 30 years.

The chain's owner, Hilco, plans to relocate the outlet to a smaller shop further down the road - at 363 Oxford Street, rather than the current number 150 address, The Telegraph reported (thanks, GamesIndustry).

HMV Oxford Street's existing location will become a Sports Direct.

The 60,000 sq ft store has been the traditional home of major software and hardware launches in the UK such as PlayStation Vita and Wii U, although more recent events have been relocated to HMV's Stratford outlet.
