Ubisoft has released a set of images comparing the original PlayStation Vita version of Assassin's Creed: Liberation with its upcoming PC and console port.

A new version of PlayStation Vita exclusive Assassin's Creed Liberation will be released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next year, Ubisoft has announced.
The remake's existance was revealed last week when logos for a number of Ubisoft's upcoming digital titles were leaked online.
Once again developed by Ubisoft Sofia, Liberation HD has been reworked graphically to appear closer to Assassin's Creed 3. Audio, AI and facial animations have also been reworked.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag's PlayStation-exclusive levels have been shown off in more detail by developer Ubisoft.
The content features an older Aveline de Grandpré, the heroine of last year's PlayStation Vita title Assassin's Creed: Liberation, and will be written by that game's lead scribe Jill Murray.
The hour-long "short story" is divided into three bonus missions for PlayStation 3 and 4 owners, and will pick up a while after Liberation's conclusion.

Tropical shooter Far Cry 3 has now sold more than 4.5 million copies, publisher Ubisoft has announced.
The company's Q3 financial results also revealed that PlayStation Vita exclusive Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation had scored 600,000 sales. Just Dance 4 boogied past the 8 million milestone.
All of these were dwarfed by the phenomenal success of Assassin's Creed 3, which has now sold 12 million copies - a 60 per cent increase on Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

PlayStation Vita developers, like PlayStation Portable developers before them, always sound very happy when they're put to work on the handheld version of a famous console game. They love the heritage and the rich potential afforded by a blank slate, they say. It's a fantastic opportunity anyone would relish. Thanks to the fans, etc.
In private, however, I imagine they all cry themselves to sleep. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they try to recreate the full experience of whatever is being made for the home console then they won't manage it, because even the mighty PlayStation Vita can't do what the PlayStation 3 can do in the right hands. And trying to do something different is no better, because any spin-off they produce inevitably won't live up to its more handsome and expansive relative. Plus, it will probably be released on exactly the same date, meaning that it sells a fraction of the copies it might do in clear air.
Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation has the whiff of spin-off about it, for sure. It's set in the same era, but uses different locations, characters and ideas on a necessarily smaller scale than the unbelievably vast Assassin's Creed 3. Playing it unlocks some stuff in the PS3 version and vice versa, but nothing amazing. So what are we left with? More tears before bedtime?

Assassin's Creed 3 has topped the UK charts with the best sales of the series to date. It was the biggest launch in publisher Ubisoft's history and the second biggest launch of any game in the UK this year (behind FIFA 13).
It doubled the launch week sales of Assassin's Creed 2, and beat last year's Revelations by over 117,000 copies.

Yesterday Sony launched a new, lighter, slimmer PlayStation 3 just in time for Christmas. The PlayStation 3 super slim, or the super duper slim as Bertie called it during our live report of Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference last week, comes in two flavours in the UK: a mammoth 500GB edition (out now) and a teeny tiny 12GB edition (out 12th October). Sony doesn't set the price of its hardware in the UK (more on that later), but shops are live now with their offers (GAME has the exclusive on the PS3 500GB FIFA 13 bundle for £250).
But why has Sony revised the PS3 hardware yet again? And let's not forget the PS Vita, which by all accounts has sold terribly since its February launch. How's that doing? When will Sony cut the price? And what about those bigger memory cards? And where's 3D gaming gone? Sony used to love that. Now it's on the down-low. And what about the Wii U? How will Nintendo's new console impact PlayStation?
Armed with these questions we spoke with Sony UK boss Fergal Gara at Eurogamer Expo to get answers.

The Vita exclusive Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation has shown off a good bit of gameplay in this new trailer just released by Ubisoft.
The trailer follows new character Aveline, who must use her hereditary assassin skills to ward of Spanish forces set on taking over the South during the Louisiana Rebellion around 1768.
At the end of the trailer, the Mysteries of the Bayou pack is revealed as a pre-order bonus. This includes a ceremonial dagger, alligator hunting hat, upgraded poison dart pouch and a "Mackandal bodyguard" as a multiplayer character.
