Gameloft's Xperia Play launch line-up

Assassin's Creed! UNO! Modern Combat!

Mobile gaming goliath Gameloft has committed 10 games for the launch of Sony Ericsson's new Xperia Play phone.

They are Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, Star Battalion, Assassin's Creed, UNO, Let's Golf! 2, Spider-Man: Total Mayhem, Modern Combat: Black Pegasus, Real Football 2011, Brothers in Arms 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction.

There are to be 50 games, total, at Xperia Play's launch. Gameloft is the first publisher to name names.

The Xperia Play also offers classic PSone games for sale. And remember, owning these on PS3 and PSP won't make any difference - you'll still need to pay to play.

The Xperia Play, Sony's first PlayStation certified smartphone, was announced this week. The phone has a slide-out game pad with a digital d-pad, two analogue touch pads, two shoulder buttons and the four PlayStation face buttons.

Performance-wise, the Xperia can thump out 60fps gaming and snappy web browsing that won't guzzle battery juice.

The Xperia Play will launch in selected global markets in March. UK network providers pin the British launch on April.
