First Angry Birds 2 screens?

German TV hawks first rook at sequel.

A German TV station has broadcast what appears to be an early glimpse of an Angry Birds sequel.

The screenshots, which you can see below, were shown during a report by the DW TV network, and then picked up by MTV. No indication was given as to what the screens are taken from but those hi-res backgrounds on show suggest the station has got its hands on something new.

Late last year, Rovio CEO Peter Vesterbacka insisted that the Finnish developer had no plans to work on a sequel to their mobile phenomenon, explaining that it was instead working on a title focusing on the game's antagonists, the pigs.

That said, it wouldn't be the first time a developer has told fibs about sequel plans. Considering the original has been downloaded over 50 million times you'd have to be cuckoo to rule it out.

One thing is for sure though, the game will be getting another seasonal update, with a fresh batch of Valentine-themed stages due next month.
