European date set for Disgaea 3

New publishers Square-Enix name the day.

Square-Enix, the JRPG giants who acquired the European rights to Disgaea 3, has announced the game will be released here on 20th February.

The sprawling game of demons and Prinnys won a hearty 8/10 in our import review. It all takes place in the Nether Institute, a school for monsters and demons where tardiness and misbehaviour are considered the pinnacles of achievement and swots are lambasted by students and teachers alike.

It's also pretty mad with incredibly over the top specials, chain attacks, stack manoeuvres and an initially mind-snappingly complex system of buffing/debuffing 3D Geo blocks. Fully developed teams are quite capable of dealing out attacks totalling 100 million points of damage, sometimes wiping out an entire board's worth of 2D enemies at a stroke.

Square-Enix grabbed the European distribution deal for the PS3 exclusive from KOEI late last year, in a deal which also included the series' first DS release and the similarly mania-inducing Persona 4.

So, rouse your Prinny armies, Dood, and prepare to lose another 3000 hours of your life.
