EA's new Marvel fighter

Fight Night team creating it.

EA has announced it will be making a fighting game for PS3 and Xbox 360 using the Marvel superhero licence.

It will be created internally at the Chicago office - responsible for the Fight Night series and Def Jam: Icon - and will be released towards the end of next year.

"We're challenging ourselves to make a game that delivers on the Super Hero promises of past top-tier fighting games," said Kudo Tsunoda, big cheese at EA Chicago.

"Featuring a great all-star line-up of Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains with incredible powers that are authentic to the fiction, huge environments and a living world that keeps the gameplay fresh, every battle will be unique; every battle will be like a first edition."

Gameplay details and a name are yet to be confirmed, but it sounds promising. We'll keep our eyes peeled for more.
