Downtime planned for Live this Monday

Important maintenance could take 24 hours.

Microsoft has prepared the community for some scheduled Xbox Live downtime on Monday 29th September.

The service could be out for as long as 24 hours, according Live boss Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, during which the Xbox.com forums will be read-only and no new posts allowed.

This is not the Xbox Live revamp, before you go getting excited, but rather preparation for that update, which is still scheduled for "later this fall".

Head over to Eurogamer TV for a new trailer detailing the dramatic changes to be made to the service, including a closer look at those Mii-style avatars.
