Counter-Strike 2 players banned for moving mouse too quickly

Counter-Strike 2 players are being banned for moving their mouse too quickly.

The game uses the Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) System to identify when cheats or hacks are being used and will issue an immediate ban for bot-like behaviour.

That includes spinning around too quickly, which is all to do with your DPI.

DPI - dots per inch - is a measure of your mouse sensitivity. Counter-Strike 2 players have discovered bumping this over 10,000 and moving the mouse very quickly will be considered bot-like behaviour and trigger a ban.

There are multiple reports of players recreating this and receiving bans, as reported by PCGamesN, YouTubers Water CS2 and TabbyN Dump, plus a reddit thread from Somethingese.

It's been suggested that VAC interprets this behaviour as spin botting, where players use macros to have their character shoot chaotically into the ground before popping up to kill opponents instantly with a headshot.

Watching recreations of this on YouTube, it's clear that some very erratic behaviour is required to trigger the ban that should be beyond most players. However, if you like to use a high DPI and move around a lot, it's something to be aware of.

It's yet another issue with banning in the game, as Valve confirmed last week it would be reversing bans for players using AMD's Anti-Lag+ feature.

The feature comes with AMD GPUs, but when activated was detected by VAC as unacceptable.

Counter-Strike 2 launched at the end of September, but hasn't been without problems.
