Bonk and Vegas on VC

Bit of a gamble.

Bonk 3 and Vegas Stakes are the two games that make up an unremarkable Virtual Console update this Friday, giving you the chance to do some of that running and jumping that proved so popular in the '90s and then sit down and chase imaginary debts into fictional destitution.

Bonk 3: Bonk's Big Adventure, was originally released on the TurboGrafx-16 in the early '90s, and is in fact the third Bonk adventure to make an appearance on the Virtual Console. The first game won little support when it pitched up early on, while the second won mild praise as a game "certainly good for a few giggles". It goes for 600 Wii points.

Vegas Stakes, meanwhile, is a SNES relic that encompasses Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Slots and of course Poker. Players toil through a range of casinos in a sort of story mode as friends drive to Las Vegas.

Given that you're reading this on an Internet-equipped device and you can't throw a mouse-cursor around here without hitting an online gambling site (many of which have cost-free elements), it's hard to guess why you'd bother, although we'll leave that to this week's Virtual Console Roundup to decide. If you ask me though, at 800 Wii points the house always wins.

Virtual Console is updated on Friday in Europe and on Monday in the USA. 100 Wii points is worth EUR 1.00 or GBP 0.70.
