Avalanche's Mad Max will have an Australian accent after all

Strewth!

Avalanche Studios has confirmed that Max in the upcoming Mad Max game will have an Australian accent.

Fans complained after hearing an American accent in the game's teaser trailer, below, released at E3 last month.

Now, following an internet campaign, the Just Cause developer has promised Max will have an Australian accent.

Avalanche boss Christofer Sundberg made the announcement on Twitter: "Attn. fans who want Max to have an Aussie accent in #MadMaxGame: It shall be so.

"We admire your loyalty. You have been heard."

The petition "Avalanche Studios: Hire an Australian actor to portray Max in the Mad Max videogame" saw 2874 signatories on Change.org.

Max from the Mad Max films was played by Australian actor Mel Gibson. Avalanche's car combat open world game isn't based on any of these, or the upcoming film Fury Road. It's due out at some point next year on PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
