Atlus picks up Citizens of Earth after its failed Kickstarter

Earthbound-esque RPG heading to PC, PS4, Vita, 3DS and Wii U.

Last October EdenIndustries launched a Kickstarter campaign for its Earthbound-esque comedic turn-based RPG Citizens of Earth, but the crowdfunding effort only acquired 36,875 Canadian dollars towards its $100K goal. Despite this failure, publisher Atlus decided to pick up the game and will be releasing it later this year in Europe and North America on PC, PS4, Vita, 3DS and Wii U.

Citizens of Earth stars the Vice President of the World who awakens to find the world has gone mental and he must recruit 40 citizens to fight alongside him.

This isn't the first time Atlus has picked up where a Kickstarter campaign left off, as it's also publishing Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure. The difference there is that Tesla Effect hit its goal, while Citizens of Earth only barely made a third of it.

See how Citizens of Earth looks in action in the teaser trailer below.
