Netflix confirms it has an "anime" Witcher movie in the works

Will be handled by Legend of Korra animation studio.

Following the news that Netflix's live-action Witcher series has been a massive success, the streaming service has confirmed that it's currently working on an animated Witcher movie too.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Netflix revealed that the project - specifically described as an "anime" film - will be titled The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, and will see a currently undisclosed "new threat facing the Continent".

Netflix says its new Witcher movie will be handled by Studio Mir - the animation house behind Legend of Korra - and that Lauren S. Hissrich and Beau DeMayo, respectively showrunner and writer on the live-action series, will be involved.

Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's live-action series.

Beyond those early details, though, little else is known about Netflix's new animated venture. There's no indication of how far along production might be, or even when the movie is expected to be air. However, Witcher TV show executive producer Tomek Baginski previously teased that Netflix was "planning a few more interesting surprises between seasons", suggesting we might see it before the live-action Witcher series returns next year.

Whether the likes of Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, and Joey Batey will be reprising their roles in animated form remains to be seen, but hopefully Netflix will be ready to share more details on its latest project soon.

Until then, those looking to keep the Witcher spirit alive in their soul could always enrich their evening with a certain little ditty that's been just released on Apple Music and Spotify.
