Halo to stay Xbox One exclusive - for now

"We're listening to the PC fans..."

Halo was once on PC. Will it ever be again?

With Halo: The Master Chief Collection, due out later this year, and Halo 5: Guardians, due out in 2015, announced for Xbox One only, it seems PC players are being left out in the cold.

"Right now we are focused on Xbox One," Bonnie Ross, who runs Halo franchise overlord 343 Industries, told Eurogamer.

Halo and PC have history, however. Halo: Combat Evolved launched on PC in 2003, and Halo 2 launched on PC in 2007.

"You're right," Ross said when Eurogamer pointed this out. "We've been on PC before, and Dan [Ayoub, 343 executive producer] has had games like Halo: Spartan Assault on there.

"We're listening to the PC fans, but right now this is all focused on Xbox One."

One platform Halo: The Master Chief Collection definitely is not coming to is the Xbox 360, 343 confirmed.

In a post on Halo Waypoint, 343 franchise community manager Andy Dudynsky said The Master Chief Collection, which bundles together Halo 1, 2, 3 and 4 as well as all the series' multiplayer maps, was too much for the Xbox 360 to handle.

"We are dedicated to bringing a full and fun experience to Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One, providing you with dedicated servers, a unified interface, increased visual fidelity, and gameplay running at 60fps," he said.

"We do not have any plans to bring the game to Xbox 360 as the game size, enhanced features and technical specifications simply can't support it."
