Payday: The Heist free to play on Steam this weekend

Plus, 50% off asking price if you decide to buy.

The PC version of multiplayer-focused shooter Payday: The Heist is free to play this weekend on Steam.

You can give it a whirl without putting your hand into your pocket until 9.00pm UK time on Sunday evening.

And if it wins you over, the full game is marked down to £7.49 - a steal at 50 per cent off the regular price. The discount expires at 6.00pm on Monday.

The Overkill-developed crime caper scored a very respectable 8/10 when it launched on PC and PlayStation 3 last October.

"If it doesn't quite match up to a high watermark like Left 4 Dead, that's no great criticism, and in its very finest moments - let's mention that superb audio design again - Payday is as good as cops and robbers gets," read Eurogamer's Payday: The Heist review.
