EA has named the Allied Assault expansion pack mentioned during its recent announcement of the Pacific Assault line of World War II-based shooters. Medal of Honor Allied Assault: Breakthrough is being developed by EALA and TKO Software and is due out by the end of the year.

The pack gives players control of US Army Sergeant John Baker as players join the battle at Kasserine Pass in North Africa, try to capture Messina in Sicily and repel the Germans in the battle of Monte Battaglia.

Changes will be made to the multiplayer game in the hope of rejuvenating it some. In Liberation Mode, players will ignore all reasonable international advice and do whatever the hell they like [actually they'll have to rescue defeated comrades in order that they can continue -Ed], and there will be tanks, artillery spotters to radio in artillery attacks, and minesweepers. As you might expect, players can choose from American, British, Italian and German multiplayer outfits.
