Ghouls 'N Ghosts exhumed for online

Retro platformer becomes Massively Multi-player? How?

Ancient '80s platform gem Ghouls 'N Ghosts is the latest Capcom title to get the online treatment - and is to be an ambitious Massively Multi-player project across all three major console platforms.

Details on the exact nature of the title are scant, but development duties will be handled by Game Factory as recently reported, with the Terazona Network Engine enabling users to play the game online. Cross platform online play is not thought to be part of the plan, however...

But while details on the game remain elusive, endless corporate waffling was available in abundance: CEO/Senior MD of Capcom Production Studios Yoshiki Okamoto was particularly pumped: "As a member of Capcom, I am really pleased and excited to hear that the talented creators of Game Factory are going to work on MMOG based on our Ghouls 'N Ghosts. I am looking forward to playing the MMOG version of Ghouls 'N Ghosts by Game Factory. Bet it's gonna be a legend!"

We bet. But there's only one person old enough on the EG team to remember the smoke-filled arcade era of Ghosts 'N Goblins and its equally bastard hard brother Ghouls 'N Ghosts. We think we know who'll be reviewing this one when it eventually arrives on our desk...
