MGS confirmed for Cube

Apparently

Nintendo has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid is coming to GameCube, according to Cube Europe and others. "I can confirm that Nintendo is working with Konami on Metal Gear Solid for the GameCube," a spokesman reportedly said. This after Shigeru Miyamoto apparently let slip to the Italian press that the game was in development - with Ninty and Konami collaborating on it. A GBA game is also said to be in development, with link-up options to keep those GC-GBA cables selling.

It's not 100 per cent clear whether the MGS project on Cube is an entirely new title or a Substance port, but we suspect that it's a separate project. There would be no reason for them to hide it for so long otherwise.

Anyway, we're a bit excited, but having played Splinter Cell we're not all that fussed, and Nintendo/Konami will have to work very hard to top the work done by Ubi Soft Montreal…
