US gives DOAXBV 'nudity descriptor'

Rated M for Mature, which seems rather unfitting

Tecmo has revealed that Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball has been rated 'M' for Mature by the American ESRB. The M rating is similar to the BBFC's 18 certificate here in the UK, conveying that the game's content may be suitable for those over the age of 17 and may contain themes of sex, violence and bad language. However, this isn't quite an Adults Only rating, which is reserved for the truly graphic depictions of the above.

"While there isn't rampant nudity in the game, there are certain elements that caused the ESRB to give it the nudity descriptor," Tecmo's John Inada offered. " As with all other games in the Dead or Alive franchise, we believe the stunning visuals, explosive action, and classic arcade gameplay will bring Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball to an even wider audience of admirers," he added, perhaps highlighting his position as marketing and sales director in the process.

DOAXBV has yet to be rated by either the BBFC here in the UK, nor the ELSPA, although no doubt their rating will include several amusing symbols in line with their recently unveiled rating system make-over.
