Call of Cthulhu sequel planned

On Xbox and PC, with PS2 exclusive game for 2005

Headfirst Productions has revealed that its Call of Cthulhu project has grown to three separate games. Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, a first person horror adventure based on the work of H.P. Lovecraft, is due out in the second half of next year on Xbox and PC, and yet Headfirst has confirmed two other Cthulhu games are already in development.

The first is a direct sequel to Dark Corners of the Earth, entitled Beyond the Mountains of Madness (incidentally, Dreamworks have just announced a film based on Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness"), which will appear on Xbox and PC for Q4 2004, roughly speaking.

Even rougher is the Christmas 2005 estimate for a PS2-exclusive title, Call of Cthulhu: Tainted Legacy.

Will we even have PS2s in 2005? Won't we all be driving flying cars and calling each other Jetson by then?

Headfirst has updated its website with all the latest data on its Lovecraft-based videogames. In the obligatory statement, managing director Mike Woodroffe confessed to being "really excited about the long term prospects" of the franchise.
