Fans of Sony's car combat spectacular Twisted Metal : Black will be pleased to learn that the game was recently demonstrated running in multiplayer at the Game Developers Conference. Using the suburbs level and playing exactly like the original game, the demo linked three PlayStation 2 units together via a server in San Diego, California, thus demonstrating the online facility. GameSpot, reporting on the GDC, said that TMB Online retains the original's fast pace and smooth frame rate. Sony has mentioned in the past its intention to replace existing versions of PS2 software with online-enabled equivalents, but it is unknown whether or not TMB Online will ever materialise on store shelves.
