Space sims - the light side

The folks over at Freelancer Vault are launching a petition demanding the inclusion of "pirate accessories" in Digital Anvil's massively multiplayer space sim, Freelancer. What are pirate accessories, I hear you ask?

"A Pirate Accessory is an ill-tempered parrot with a foul mouth that I would call Princess, but any other kind of parrot would be fine and the other item that qualifies as a Pirate accessory is a monkey! A monkey really does set the atmosphere, would you be afraid of a pirate with a cat? No you wouldn't! You WOULD be afraid of a pirate with a monkey though! A monkey inspires terror into the hearts of many, especially with a little cute pirate hat on top of his head."

Meanwhile the guys at 3DActionPlanet have posted a feature on " the worst space sims ever". I can't say I agree with all of their choices ("Privateer 2 : The Darkening" was a great game!), but it's well worth a look for sheer comedy value if nothing else.

In space, nobody can hear you gibbering insanely.
