US gamers will get their hands on the Nintendo 3DS on 27th March, at a recommended retail price of $249.99.

That converts to around £156 in old-world currency.

The console will be available in two colours - Aqua Blue or Cosmo Black - and come with various bits of built-in software. Expect a pedometer, Mii Maker and Face Raiders, which is some kind of shooting gallery. There will also be software for manipulating sound, similar to that on the DSi.

We're expecting European launch details to arrive any minute.
