Q Entertainment will be bringing Rez to Xbox Live Arcade in Q1 2008, the developer announced earlier today.

The game will be a direct port of the PS2 and Dreamcast original, but will be updated with HD visuals and 5.1 surround sound.

"Personally, Rez has been and will always be a lifelong concept," creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi explained.

"I hope to take what I learned from the experience of creating the original game and look forward to taking it to a whole new level in the future."

The original Rez was a delightful blend of 3D shoot-'em-up, abstract visuals and music that changed as you strung attacks together. As players navigated each of its five levels, the music would build up to crescendo.

It's also famous for launching on PS2 with a "Trance Vibrator" USB peripheral, which rose to particular infamy thanks to some graphic Internet coverage.

Can I just say w00t.

I am an unashamed Rez fanboy, and though I already have the title on Dreamcast I shall purchase again just see it in lovely HD goodness.

Genuinely in the top 10 best games of all time IMHO :D

Bloody fantastic! I've played this at games meets on a projector with a thumping sound system and that was just bloody mental. Being able to play it again with HD graphics and 5.1 sound will just be freaking incredible. I still love the chuffing soundtrack to this day.

EMOs/metal heads- YMMV.

It's a good game but I prefer Amplitude. The songs and the way they get mixed sound better imo. Not to mention the fact that the gameplay is a lot more addictive. But that's Harmonix for you ;-)

one heck of a game this, the ps2 version is not as good as the DC one, anyways i hope it will come to PS3 also as this is a cornerstone shooter/music game which should be on all consoles...just like EEE HD (which is evidently comming for XBLA too :))

Actually, you know what, i'd rather have this on PC. High resolution, and mouse control - this had mouse support in it's previous incarnations, actually, wonder if it will on Live?
Also: You could take screenshots, and use them as wallpapers.

great game,shame they couldnt string together an extra level or bonus content tho. I still have my ps1 version so i might skip this one and wait fro ikaruga which is near impossible to find on GC or dreamcast.

I'm glad it's not a remake a'la Lumines. Would hate it if any of the songs were changed or missing. I'm expecting 1200 points purchase tho.

I'd pay 1200 points for this, truely one of the best games ever IMO. Definately in my all time favourite list of games. HD and 5.1 surround sound will take this to a new level.

Uff.. I'd rather have some new ORIGINAL games. Rez is ok, the soundtrack is top, but the gameplay is seriously dull after a few sessions. It's just pretty mindless, like Space Harrier on an acid trip, certainly no more involving than that oldie.

Dear God. Katamari, and now Rez jump ship to the 'box.
Don't they know the 360's just for racers and shooters?

Can just hope it does well and gets Sony/the devs off their backside for a PS3 version.
