A mid-gen PS5 Pro is also expected to release later this year, which can only mean some bigger discounts on the PS5 Slim Disc and Digital consoles.

PS5 Slim release date and price
The PS5 Slim UK release date was 29th November 2023, and 10th November 2023 for the US. It is the updated version of the standard PlayStation 5 console.
The new PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive is priced at £480/€550/$499, and the new PS5 Digital Edition costs £390/ €450/ $449. There was only a price hike for the PS5 Digital Edition in the US, whilst the price remains the same as the standard PlayStation 5 in the UK and rest of Europe.
If players want to purchase the optional add-on disc drive for their PS5 Digital Edition console at a later date, it costs £100/€120/$80.
The new PS5 Slim stands horizontally, but you can spend an extra £25/€30/$30 for an optional vertical stand.
PS5 Slim design and features
In comparison to the previous PS5 models, Sony said the new PS5 Slim consoles have been reduced in volume by 30 per cent. The new standard PS5 has also had a weight reduction of 18 per cent, whilst the Digital Edition has had a 24 per cent weight reduction.
The smaller designs features a 1TB SSD - that's a 175GB increase of internal storage in comparison to the previous PS5 models, which featured an oddly-sized 825GB SSD. Although not mentioned by Sony, the additional internal SSD slot is still present so that you can further expand your storage with a PS5 compatible SSD.
The overall appearance is similar in design to the original, with two glossy panels on the top and two matte panels on the bottom.
The new Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive attachment is positioned in the bottom left quadrant in the standard version of the machine. There's a removable panel on the the digital-only version, where you can attach the drive at a later time, should you decide to buy one. The disc-drive requires an internet connection to pair the device during its installation.

If you want to add a premium 'edge' to your gaming experience, the DualSense Edge controller can offer just that. It costs £209.99/ $200, so quite a lot more than the standard DualSense. This new controller features all the things that make the DualSense controller great, but with some fine-tuned and enhanced features. Stick sensitivity can be customised, from picking between three caps for your preferred grip to even swapping out the entire stick modules. There's two styles of back buttons, adjustable trigger stops for faster and more precise shooting. You even have swappable profiles that remap buttons to certain games. The included carry case will keep it well protected, but you can also keep it stored in the standard PS5 docking station, too.

Best PlayStation Portal deals in May 2024
The PlayStation Portal lets you play your PS5 console in handheld mode over your home Wi-Fi, allowing you to play in bed, on the sofa or on-the-go. It features an 8" LCD display, and is capable of 1080p resolution at 60fps. The controls are essentially a PS5 DualSense controller that's been split down the middle, offering the same great features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for supported games for an immersive experience.
The PlayStation Portal Remote Plater released on 15th December 2023 and is available from PS Direct for £199.99 and other third party retailers. We haven't seen many deals for it yet, but we'll link them below if we spot any.

The PlayStation VR 2 is Sony's latest virtual reality headset that costs £529.99/$549.99.
