PS3 Tales of Vesperia adds content

Voices, character, cutscenes, subplots.

Namco Bandai has promised to steep the freshly-announced PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia in plenty of new content.

There's new character Patty Fruel, according to Kotaku's translation of My Game News Flash. She has a frilly pirate hat. I want it.

The entire Vesperia adventure will be voiced; the extra parts, said one actor, are nearly as long as the entire Xbox 360 script. On top of that, we're to see new cutscenes and delve into new subplots while wearing new outfits.

There's no date for Tales of Vesperia on PS3, but the Xbox 360 version arrives here in June. The story follows Yuri Lowell, a former Imperial Knight sent outside the safe confines of the city to explore a dangerous world. Vesperia has been out in US since last August and picked up solid scores: an 81 per cent average on Metacritic.

We'll bring you our thoughts closer to release. Until then, our Tales of Vesperia Xbox 360 gamepage has things to look at.

Fully voiced? Settles that then, getting the PS3 version.
  • Kazzahdrane #2 3 years ago

Wow, I was vaguely considering picking this up on 360 but if the PS3 version is fully voiced I'll wait.
  • Fodder #3 3 years ago

I'm never going to get this game am I? They'll release the 360 version in Europe finally, but I'll have to wait because they won't have announced a western release of the PS3 version by then. Eventually they'll decide on no PS3 version outside of Japan but by then the 360 version will be impossible to find because they only made 20 copies for the whole of Europe.

Sod the 360 version, I'll pick this game up for the PS3 too.
  • Colin8703 #6 3 years ago

The game is brilliant but the voice acting isn't so don't let that sway the decision if you're deperate to play it.

Make the decision based on the extra content.

Also, if this continues the usual Namco trend, they'll do an Asian version in English for PS3 anyway so don't wait for a UK release, import.

They said this for Enchanted Arms too. Remember kids?
  • chrisno21 #8 3 years ago

They said it for Eternal Sonata and it was True. Whatever FROM software said about Enchanted Arms I've no idea, but BAMCO are more reliable.

Definately holding out for the PS3 version now.

Where are all the mental as a wasp in a jam jar poked with toothpicks fanboys these days?

The comments sections seem so more...civil. No wait, boring, that's what I meant, this is perfect fodder for watching them ejaculate their strange brain matter via their fingers + keyboard. Imagining them drooling into the screen humming and periodically shoving ham and French’s American Mustard sandwiches into their ears made the day more bearable.

Are they out playing with kites as it’s a bit sunny and school holidays? I wish I was. What’s this game like? Someone say it’s better on one system please and then poke yourself in the eye with a pencil.

I'm adding fine then, let me go home unfulfilled, much like a night out in Stevenage. I've never been though, nor will I.

I'm liking this thread so far. If we can continue to pre-empt the most rabid fanbois, thereby defusing their most deranged whitterings before they can make them, we may yet reclaim teh internet.

Even if we have to do it ironically...

I did get the US import but region locked n sold it on to fellow EG forumite, was looking forward to June but now wondered why would I settle for non-definite version? Voices is simply not useful for me but the added content is very appealing, as must have more detailed sub-plots etc.
Will wait and see when PS3's release date is as that would sway it for me!
  • Cappy #17 3 years ago

    Sounds good.

Looks I'll have plenty of time to finish Tales of the Abyss on my PS3 though.
  • Pedrolot #18 3 years ago

    PS3 it is.

Id say that because i only own a PS3.

/takes pencil from eye. pokes it in the other eye.

trying to tell me there's no benefits with bluray indeed. :p
  • Sorb #20 3 years ago

I'm concidering the PS3 version too, if only to punish someone for region locking the 360 version and then releasing it almost a year later in Europe!!
  • Widge #21 3 years ago

DLC with this? Might get from the US if it comes out first there.

    So much lol:

    From Joystoq -

Perhaps "Tales of Rage" is a more suitable title for Tales of Vesperia on PS3, as fan reaction to the enhanced port hasn't gone over well. Fans of the series in Japan are livid at the announcement, seeing as many of these gamers bought systems just to play the formerly 360-exclusive game. In one case, a fan was so angry he snapped his game disc in half (... subconsciously telling himself he has a reason to pick it up again) and burned the PS3 announcement article.

While we feel sorry for such angered gamers, we do believe they should have known better. After all, the game was previously teased to appear on PS3 by Namco Bandai itself. Just couldn't wait, huh? No wonder they say patience is a virtue.
  • mkreku #23 3 years ago

Huh. What's the use of Xbox 360 timed exclusives if they appear on the PS3 later with more content?
  • toy_brain #24 3 years ago

"In one case, a fan was so angry he snapped his game disc in half (... subconsciously telling himself he has a reason to pick it up again) and burned the PS3 announcement article."

Its nice to know that mouth-breathing levels of retardation are not exclusive to the western world :p

    /Removes pencil from eye.
    /Jams up nose.
  • NegativeZero #25 3 years ago

At least with it being on bluray they'll have no 'we couldn't fit it on the disc' excuse for not offering both Japanese and English dialogue options.
  • andywilkie35 #26 3 years ago

Fully voiced? Settles that then, getting the 360 version

Seriously I always turn the voices off in RPGs if there's the option. The day they added voices to RPGs is the day they went downhill. Bring back the style of FFVII etc!

Also achievements vs trophies....I'll stick with the perfectly balanced 360 version thank you very much

    /looks at PS3

    /sighs
  • Scimarad #27 3 years ago

Put me on the 'wait for the PS3 version' list. I've waited this long for it so a bit longer won't matter. Hey, if they hadn't region locked the 360 version I already would have bought it...
  • NotSoSlim #28 3 years ago

I will wait for the PS3 version as the Asia version will be fully english. As for trophies and achievemnts...the both serve there purpose and are equally balanced
  • monkeywithnoeyes #29 3 years ago

nice, they have us wait almost a year extra for it and then before the years out they'll release the ps3 version with a whole host of extras? whys europe not getting any additional content for the additional wait on the 360??

Winning the battle against pirating games one friend at a time eh
