Dead Rising US date adjusted

Bludgeon the undead back a bit.

Capcom's zombie hackandslash Dead Rising is now due out sometime this summer in the US of States, says Capcom's American website. It had been due out in May.

Apparently that's not a change as such though: a Capcom rep told GameSpot that May had been more of an approximation than a firm date anyway. Tsk!

Meanwhile over here Capcom Eurosoft's press site still lists the game as "TBC 2006", so it seems fair to say that it's still a bit of a way off as a whole, then.

Still, it was in enough of a shape to be playable at the Tokyo Game Show in September, where we spent a good fifteen minutes struggling through a sea of zombies in a shopping centre, blowing them up with shotguns, whacking them with all manner of bats and trying to escort civilians out of their way.

The game seems to work on a kind of two-layered approach, where most of the zombs just mill around and the ones closest to you lurch into play as you near. Works quite well - and the 360 can draw tons of them at once.

Soon as we hear anything else, we'll eat your mum.

Have you seen it? It's not exactly what you'd call.... 'good'.

More importantly, have you seen my mum? She's not exactly what you'd call... 'appetizing'

    She's a good shag, though.

Not good? For me, this is the single interesting title on X360. I am a big fan of that genre and always wanted something with more... hmm... entities, just like in the movies. Zombies are really weak alone or in small numbers, unless you pour some crimson paint over their heads.

But I still hope this game also has some additional monsters, because zombies alone might make a good movie, but a game demands a little more. Oh, and a PS3-version would be nice, thanks! :D

If this is your most anticipated title then you're in trouble. Watched the videos - it looks awful. Unless there are big improvements before launch it's not going to go down well at all. And that's from a self-confessed Capcom-lover.

I think perhaps they'll make a good game out of it, but yeah, the earlier vids were pretty shite.

Hope it ends up at least half way decent anyway.

I am in trouble of not really feeling the urge to buy an X360? Oh the tragedy... ;)

I am not even feeling a strong impulse to buy the PS3 on its first day, though i am definitely interested. I'll see again around late 2007 or 2008, until then, i still have much to go for on my PS2.

Dead Rising might not look very next gen, or even not at all, but it looks fun to me. Yes, i watched the videos and a lot of screenshots. But i predict low sales as well, given that only my strong favor for the genre keeps the interest up. *shrugs*

I played a demo at zero hour, and it was actually pretty good, even though it was only VERY short, it showed off the physics and the gameplay very well. It was basically along the lines of DOTD in the shopping mall with gazillions of zombies (hhhhm zombies!) Everyone I spoke to there had played it, and everyone had something good to say about it. Dunno how it will run storyline wise, but the concept and the controls felt nice. It was good that you could actually use ANYTHING as a weapon- cash registers, pot plants whatever was lying around, as well as the old faithful shotty and chainsaw. And a well placed headshot was awesome!! brains and blood everywhere!
Unless the devs really cock it up along the line, I think it will be a winner.
