Resi simultaneously on PS3/360?
If possible.
Keiji Inafune has told the Japanese press that he imagines Resident Evil 5 will ship simultaneously on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Speaking to Xbox360ism (the appallingly-named Dorimaga special edition dedicated, we're guessing, to the 360 launch on Saturday), the Capcom R&D division chief said, "We want to grow the Resident Evil series into a multi-platform franchise, so we hope to release it simultaneously."
"But since we don't know the launch period for the PS3 yet, it's hard to say," he said in comments reported by GameSpot.
Capcom Eurosoft had nothing to add this morning, but we get the impression that Infaune's basically just saying what makes sense at the moment. If PS3 launches after the game's complete, things might change; if someone runs at him with a money hat, things might change; if an Xbox 360 kills his cat, things might change.
But still, it's another assurance that Capcom is paying due attention to the Xbox 360, which it's already supporting with exclusive titles including Dawn of the Dead-inspired horror action game Dead Rising.

Well, if they only wait until the Jap PS3 release to release the game, the 360 version might still come out over here fairly quick.
Probably before the PS3 does anyway.

I wouldn't look forward to too many multi-platform titles on the Rev if I was you, Razzie. :-/

Of course, PS2 owners who never would have played RE4 can of course now enjoy one of the best games of the year. But as someone who's played RE4 on both systems - I'd still say the 'Cube version is the best of the two, regardless of lacking those extra Ada scenes...

Hopefully the analog sticks on the PS3 pad aren't going to be the same as the large-dead-zone sticks on the Dual Shock, or the 360 version is going to have the same control advantage the GameCube version of RE 4 has.

Nah, I don't think it'll be out that soon, 2007 sometime if we're lucky.

I thought said it "Rev on PS3/360?"
There's a horrible thought.

The PS2 version was a great port. But the 'Cube version still manages to urinate over it from a great height - better controls, better visuals, smoother framerate, more ganados on screen at any one time. It's not bashing a great port - it's just a simple matter of how the two compare.
If you don't want a 'Cube, the PS2 version is excellent. But if you have a 'Cube, I still think it's the better of the two... and can probably be found now cheaper than it's ported sibling as well...

Heh heh - not much chance of that, Kami. Cube games never lose their value!

The simple truth here is, that there is no longer an excuse NOT to play Resident Evil 4. Which I have to admit is more important than the compromises made for the port. More people can enjoy what is a stellar piece of modern gaming, and that can only be a very good thing indeed.

PS3: 9/10
X360: 8/10 "because it's just as polished but not on Playsi"
LOLZ.

I think you're missing the point here - his criticisms of the PS2 controller were functional rather than aesthetic and they had an actual impact on gameplay. Similarly he didn't say the GameCube controller was better because of its design - presumably he prefers it in this situation because the analogue sticks lack the dead zone of the PS2 controller meaning that it's possible to move the sticks slightly and get an appropriate response.
