Bayonetta delayed until next year

SEGA hoping to avoid Xmas craziness.

SEGA has delayed the Western release of Bayonetta until 2010.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 title will still launch in Japan on 29th October, as planned - but SEGA is hoping to avoid the Christmas rush when it comes to the rest of the world.

"Bayonetta is an extremely important new IP for SEGA and adds a new level of depth to our growing portfolio," said SEGA West president Mike Hayes.

"As a result of market analysis, we have taken a Publishing decision that January 2010 is the optimum release time in the Western Markets to maximise this exciting new title's potential."

Bayonetta, you may recall, stars a bespectacled witch with guns attached to her feet who can take out enemies with her hair. You can read all about it, and watch some videos, over on the gamepage.

That's a shame, I was looking forward to some Devil May Cry style monster slaying. I've been playing too many Easy games recently, this was going to break my habit.

I'll just have to find another challenging game to play :) Perhaps Ninja Gaiden will tide me over.

You should still be able to import it from Japan if you really want to play it before christmas. That's if you have a PS3, anyway. Given all the dialogue in the trailers so far has been translated to English, I think there's a good chance the Japanese release will have an 'english dub'.

Yes, yes, you would play it for the challenge and not for the slutty protagonist. Like the rest of us.

If everyone is moving their games to avoid Christmas rush I doubt they will not all meet in March 2010. Same problem idiots, probably will be set up against GoW3.

    Another game delayed?

All the publishers seem to be running scared, at this rate we'll just be left with Assassin's Creed 2 & MW2.

Stupid - surely releasing it in October with competition would still get it more sales than if left to January??

No one buys games in January - if they felt the need for a delay then the February/March pre-Easter window would make more sense.

I buy games in Januari :p

And like I said, march is getting crowded as well imo.

Hmph... If the Japanese version is in English anyway, I know what I will be doing this October.

I buy games in January, the problem is other people who cannot afford to buy the large number of AAA titles and any other titles at the same time. At the moment even with Bioshock delayed, I think there are at least 5 games on my list... thats before I start worrying about what Santa will get the kids :D

So I expect to see a few more titles delayed as they will not be able to compete.in January onwards, at least people will have been paid again or given xmas money.

Damn them!! This is one of the few Games I am actually looking forward to for the remainder of the year!!

At least it's not a massive delay but I was really hoping for my stylish chaos action on this side of christmas...
Jan is probably not the best time to release a new title anyway since most buyers would be spennt due to christmas (both metaphorically and literally)

Slutty she may be, but I still think she looks like Sarah Palin...and that is just too weird for me.

I was fine with everything else in the game, but a republican...thats too much

I think Kratos ain't a democrat at heart though. :p
