Rita Ora joins the cast of the upcoming Detective Pikachu movie

Shiftry Shades of Grey.

British singer and actor Rita Ora will star alongside Ryan Reynolds and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's Justice Smith, in yet another surprise casting twist for the already eclectic, in-production live-action Detective Pikachu movie.

Reynolds, of course, is providing the voice and motion capture for the film's computer-generated Detective Pikachu character. As far as plot goes, he'll be attempting to help Justice Smith, in one of the film's human roles, track down his kidnapped father.

Quite where Rita Ora (who most recently starred in the Fifty Shades trilogy) fits into all of this madness is anyone's guess, but she's certainly in fine company. Also on the cast list are Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe, Suki Waterhouse, and British national treasure Bill Nighy.

Detective Pikachu is being made by Legendary Entertainment and will be directed by Rob Letterman. There's no word yet on a release date for the movie, but the previously-Japan-only 3DS game it's based on will arrive in the UK on March 23rd.
