Battlefield 3 UK launch price roundup

Refreshed for launch day.

Where is the cheapest place to buy Battlefield 3 this week?

At the moment, Asda direct (online), where the Standard Edition of the game on console costs £27.97.

Consider trade-ins, however, and HMV wins. There, Battlefield 3 costs £2.99 when you take back Forza Motorsport 4 or Batman: Arkham City.

Game offers Battlefield 3 for £4.99 if you trade Batman: Arkham City, Gears of War 3, Forza Motorsport 4 or PES 2012.

If you're planning on picking up both Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3, Tesco is offering the former for £33 if you put down a fiver for COD.

It's worth looking for the Limited Edition of Battlefield 3 where possible. This sells for around the same price as a Standard Edition and comes with the Back to Karkand add-on, which includes four re-mastered Battlefield 2 maps.

We've only included Standard Edition prices for shops not offering the Limited Edition, or for those outlets with both and where the price differs.

Look, too, for the Physical Warfare Pack add-on. On the UK high street, this is exclusive to Game and Gamestation. But online, Gameplay and Origin also offer it. The Physical Warfare Pack adds new guns and ammo.

Battlefield 3 will enjoy midnight openings up and down the country. Game and Gamestation will be the official UK launch partners, and open a combined total of over 500 shops on the night.

The first 100 people to queue at Game HQ on Oxford Street get a limited edition Battlefield 3 dog tag. A gameplay challenge on the night will have two people walk away with a new pair of Steel Series headphones, too.

There is also talk of Game and EA driving a tank down Oxford Street. This must be the stock arriving "in a style inspired by Battlefield 3" that the press release mentioned. The Gadget Show's Jason Bradbury will host.

HMV will open 50 stores at midnight on Thursday to sell the game.

Note that this list will be updated throughout the week. Please let us know of any deals that you spot that aren't here. Supermarkets typically reveal their pricing in-store on launch day, unless they've been advertised elsewhere. We're all ears.

How about updating to include GAME/Gamestation trade in offers??
  • 00.00.01 #2 7 months ago

Just count yourselves lucky, on the continent the PS3 LE costs a hefty 57 euros (give or take, depending on retailer). Not a clue why these prices differ so much and I've not even started ranting about the massive differences with the USA... Just meh. Still getting it though, no worries.

  • agparrot #8 7 months ago

Is there a Gamestation trade in offer then, CB.Gamestation, or is it just a GAME trade in offer?
  • AaronTurner #9 7 months ago

It's £30.58 at Greenmangaming.co.uk if you use the coupon GMG10-PERCE-NTOFF when ordering. It's a digital download off Origin I'd imagine.
  • ThePentatonic #10 7 months ago

@rauper no mate not all pages, and it doesn't happen all the time. When a page crashes, the text becomes messed up and hard to read
  • rtk79 #11 7 months ago

  • napalm68 #14 7 months ago

I got mine at Zavvi for £17.99 - with the offer of DKNY 3-Pack Boxers plus BF3 for £36.97. I'm not sure if the offer is still around. I needed the undies anyhow lol.
  • Bloobat #15 7 months ago

    @00.00.01

For BF3 no one still know if it's multi languages or not, any news about it?
  • metalangel #19 7 months ago

Could they drive the tank OVER Jason Bradbury? I'll buy the game if they do!
  • Alastair #20 7 months ago

  • TheVoice #21 7 months ago

£37.99 at Sainsbury's in-store, although they are planning an "incentive offer", whatever that means.
  • metallicorphan #22 7 months ago

didn't you get the 4 BF2 maps when you pre-ordered the game?,that's why i pre-ordered back in April
  • Ranger101 #23 7 months ago

@metallicorphan If you preordered back then, you've probably got the LE. Looks like retailers are now also selling the Standard edition as well, as the LE, really is an LE due to demand!
  • Ranger101 #24 7 months ago

Remember guys - The PHYSICAL WARFARE pack is a limited time exclusive, we will all be getting it soon enough, so try and avoid giving your money to GAME where possible.

Hi @CB.Gamestation! I've prepared for the negs ;-) (But do feel free to ask, from a marketing and publicity point of view as to why I actively feel the need to turn customers away from you!)

@rtk79 Can anyone confirm this? I have the week off, and getting this 2 days early would really wind up the Mrs :)
  • StooMonster #26 7 months ago

  • rtk79 #27 7 months ago

@Rtrdo : Yes I can. See the PC BF3 forum thread for further information, as they say.
  • Rtrdo #28 7 months ago

@rtk79 So far so good - purchased from www.greenmangaming.co.uk for £34, you get the key immediately. Installed Origin, redeemed key - downloading the game now.
Then just the proxy/vpn thing in another 4 hours 39 minutes... :)

My copy from Asda direct for 25quid has just come happy days!
  • Matfink #30 7 months ago

Be careful... GreenmanGaming seems to have screwed me and others over by not giving a key after buying. Apparently there's an issue for a 'very small minority'.
And helpfully their refunds page = 404 error.

Ed: Got the key now :)
Now if only Origin would respond... :-/

@Matfink Yup, still waiting for mine, no sign. But also no sign of any confirmation mail, or even money being taken from my account. Just unable to buy a new copy as the only sign I've actually done anything on the site.
  • Lovemoose #32 7 months ago

Fabulous: "This product is not available for purchase in your region at the present time. Please check back soon."
Thanks green man gaming. That's incredibly impressive.

edit: Just heard back from them on a ticket. They've had to refund my transaction, and advised me to retry purchasing. Except I can't. Woo.

edit 2: As cheap as they are, I couldn't trust them with my money. I've gone elsewhere, and I'd strongly advise others to do the same.

The Asda discount code looks very much like a PSN download code :o
  • merseymal #34 7 months ago

Got mine directly from Origin as EA had kindly given me a £10 off voucher for my birthday in June which helped bring it to £29.99. Glad I'd kept hold of it. :)
  • MetalMilitia #35 7 months ago

    £34.99 at Best Buy (store)
  • DannyboyUK #36 7 months ago

£42.99 for the Physical Warfare pack at Gamestation. Robbing bastards, such an uncompetitive price- the Physical Warfare Pack adds nothing worth extra money, especially since that DLC will be released for free in the next few weeks...

£5 off if you trade in any two or more games. Better to get them to price match though as I took in Halo Reach and Bioshock Steelbook- they offered £4 and £2.50 respectively, plus extra £5 makes for £11.50. I pricematched CEX and got £17.
  • MrE26 #37 7 months ago

Limited Edition from Sainsbury's Online with that snazzy 20% off your first order promo they've been running. Shame they appear to be fucking shit at getting stuff to you for release date but I'll wait an extra day or two for the price.

Edit: actually, I take that back. It's just dropped through my letterbox!

  • AndyBeans #38 7 months ago

Haha, that's funny! HMV/Game can get knotted, the only way I'd trade in the 10/10 Batman for the barely 8/10 Battlefield is if they paid me.

I'm not knocking the Battlefield IP in general, BF2 was great fun and I'd love to play BF3 on a top-spec PC, but I stopped trying to keep up with the latest PC spec years ago and prefer consoles for gaming now.

GAME are running that decent 'trade stuff in and pay £4.99 for BF3' deal, including Gears of War 3.

So I went into Gamestation expecting something similar, but they wanted to give me £20 for Gears of War 3.

So I got back my £5 deposit from them, and went to GAME instead. Sure, my money ends up in the same place as they are all owned by the same people, but it still left a sour taste that'll mean in future I go back to avoiding both shops whenever possible.

I had a 'discussion' with the girl behind the counter about how their sister shop was essentially offering £35 as a trade-in for the game she wanted to give my £20, but this didn't sway her in any way. Realising I was leaving with my deposit, she attempted to get me to stay by telling me I might not get the Physical Warfare pack if I went to Game.

Which clearly I then did. I got £35 trade in value for Gears3, I had my £5 deposit, and so I only had to find £3 of extra cash to upgrade to the Limited Edition/PW pack.

    Tossers!
  • agparrot #40 7 months ago

So, if you could just change the text of the article, because Gamestation certainly aren't offering that 'trade a game and get BF3 for £4.99' everywhere, if anywhere.
  • spookalilly #41 7 months ago

Argos should be added to the above, they're always worth a punt. In this case they are second best to Sainsbury's.

Argos - BF3 XBOX: £39.99, comes bundled with 800 Live points. (Game works out equivalent to £32).
  • MrE26 #42 7 months ago

My local Asda had it for 37-odd when I was in there this morning.

  • cambison #45 7 months ago

I stupidly pre-ordered from Game, £42.99 for the bullshit physical warfare edition! They offered me £9 for deus ex and la noire aswell!! They can fuck off......if any high st chain deserves to go down before HMV etc it's Game. They are consistently shit in terms of trade ins and competitive pricing. Staff are arrogant, thinking they know better with they're enforced hard sell....fuck off Game! All your shops smell of BO.....fact! ;-)
