Final Fantasy 10 HD for Vita, PS3

Plus, two new Vita IPs from Square

An HD version of PS2 RPG Final Fantasy X is on its way to PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3, Square Enix has revealed.

No release date was confirmed during the announcement at Sony's TGS presser today.

Square also unveiled two new IPs for Vita: an action RPG called Lord of Apocalypse which features multiplayer for up to four users, and Army Corps of Hell, in which you'll be slicing your way through 100 different types of goblin in an effort to regain "hegemony of hell". Both will be out at launch.

No trailers were shown, but apparently they're on the TGS show floor. Look for more news when we've had a chance to check them out.

    I loved FFX on PS2, I hope it can meet my exspectations. Now just FF7 to go and we're good!

    EDIT: Just to clarify i meant a FF7 HD remake.

    FF7 can already be played on the PSP and PSV. Good news with FFX, though the PS2 era JRPG re-release I'd really want is Dragon Quest VIII.

    Didn't really like X, but if XII get's the HD remake with trophy's I'm all over it.

    Nice. I love Final Fantasy X, and aside from being in HD it'll be nice to play it without those massive black borders.

    Loved FFX and bought the original Japanese release and the international version so will probably buy this too if it turns out to be a decent port.

    FFXII was an abomination, Xenoblade Chronicles is the game FFXII should have been.

    they only thing that worries me is that it seems we have entered a race that we ll have to wait each new generation to witness through remakes the potential of the previous one..... other than that i m sold some games with more polish and shine are welcome FFX was amazing ... while remaking they should see how bad 13 was.

    As much as I liked FF10... I am not sure I will be able to play it again if they will use the same battle system.... its just to slow for me now....would be great to see ff13+ system though :)

    Rather have a good new Final Fantasy aka number XV than another HD upgrade of a game I already played and own. I'll probably still buy it, but SE should spend their time on finishing their games they have announced years ago unless they give the HD work to another small developer. This time however, they should include the Japanese voices as well. Not sure why they haven't done it yet, FFXIII didn't have it although it was on Blu-ray. As for the Xbox version, DVDs have plenty of room for additional voices as well I would say, just look at Xenoblade. Anyways, SE has really been going downhill since merging with Enix. Can't even remember any music from FFXII onwards while I still can hum and play songs in my head from FFVI - FFX.

    Xenogears HD/remake, yes please!! Too bad Monolith Soft isn't the IP owner. Looking forward to the next masterpiece from Tetsuya Takahashi, Xenoblade is awesome!!

    They should have spent time on FFX-FFX-2 and FF XII HD update for PS3 all in one. I mean its not as if the bluray disk can't handle that kind of space, and then you won't be accused of sucking money out of consumers by HDifying them one by one.

    Agreed, I am a bit dissapointed its not like the other HD classics range available. Still, its a monster of a game, and a brilliant one to boot, so i'm not complaining.

    Not played it since it first come out. I remember loving it all the way to the end and then I almost t hrew up in my mouth when I saw the ending. Nearly ruined the whole thing for me. I still want to play it again though. See if the gameplay holds up.

    I'm still quite far behind on the Final Fantasy series, despite owning most of them on PS1 and PS2. I figure my best chance is playing them on the move, so this helps. Would need to get 7, 8 and 9 from PSN first too, but that'll be easier than finding where I stored the discs.

    YES PLEASE. I really enjoyed FFX. Be even better to play this in non-jaggy vision. I really hope they don't pump out something half arsed and don't make it 16:9 along with the bargain.

    This should be packaged with another game - either FFX-2 or FFXII. If it's full price on it's own - no sale for me

    Woohoo! hope its included in a pack with 10-2 and 12.

    X for me was the last great Proper FF game. So glad its making its return in HD. And lets hope the Conversions follows the GOW/ICO/SOTC route rather than the ubisoft crap. Would like to give 12 another chance as well.

    I replayed FFX about a year ago and it was still just as good. Hopefully they'll release X-2 as well.

    Nice options for PSVita, but I'm growing weary of these cheap ass HD updates. Its not surprising that they are all coming from japanese studios at all. Jeez, I never bought FFXIII, and I've already had enough of FF to last me years.

    fucking great news. i'll actually play this though. was meaning to on ps2 any time soon as i'm a big fan, but having it on ps3 makes it a no brainer.

    Can't say I'm interested in this. FFX was the first bad JRPG I played, after golden JRPG games for the PS1 like FF7, FF8, FF9, Suikoden, Suikoden 2 and so on. It's almost as linear and boring as FFXIII.

    I would have been much pleased if it it had been FFXII HD, or even better, a Suikoden HD Collection. Suikoden 3 was never released in Europe so it would be nice to see it here.

    Almost as linear? If you check out the maps side by side you'll see that X is far more linear than XIII. It DID have a cracking story though, and the turn based battling has only really been bettered by X-2.

    Whilst this news is great, wouldn't it be better if SE stopped taking the piss and just released a proper HD collection with X-2 and XII included? I mean let's face it, a collection like this would easily outsell FF13-2. Plus I wanted to play FFXII in HD ever since I got a PS3. Can't believe Sony didn't push for it to be a launch title. Stuff like God of War 2, FFXII and Okami were released only a few months before the UK PS3 launch. They should have been launch titles. Can you imagine the sales numbers on launch day if they did? Oh well all in the past now I suppose. Hurry up and get FFXII HD on the store SE!

    I don't get how anyone who liked 7, 8 & 9 can dislike 10.

    I never played it to its fullest, but there's an incredible amount of depth in the sphere grid, the monster arena etc.

    I've got friends that are still maxing out all their characters to 99 in all stat.

    Great to see this HD update I doubt they'll the other 2 FF included the blu-ray disc could handle it but PS Vita?
    I will also love to see Suikoden series in HD my fav rpgs of the ps1 era.

    oh i am in my yearly final fantasy nostalgic trip.
    so this is very exciting news as i havent played ffX in ages since my ps2 bricked it ages ago.
    ff7 can stay the same, cause i can play that no problem.
    but ffX and ffXII as a bundle would be lovely but seeing the way SquareEnix price their games im sure that each of those games will be on their own as full priced title.

    Vita screen is close enough, it's not really clear where the dividing line between SD and HD is set. It has a high pixel density for a small screen anyway and closer to 720p than 480p.

    I will get this. Never played the original on the PS2 though..but we could sure use a FF7 HD remake..hmm? Square-Enix? :))

    I've literally dreamt about this happening. FFX is definitely my favorite FF and I've simply wanted to be able to play it on the Ps3 slim but HD is even better. Lighten up people at least it's not as full and boring as FFXIII!
