I Am Alive gameplay trailer, screens leak
M.I.A Ubisoft adventure shows its face.
A gameplay trailer and screens of long-in-the-offing Ubisoft adventure I Am Alive have been leaked onto the net.
First spotted over on NeoGAF, two YouTube clips posted by someone called billvonkova show a full gameplay trailer as well as a montage of screenshots. You can see both below.
The game - which sees you attempting to survive a series of natural disasters - has had a troubled history. First announced way back in 2008, development moved from French developer Darkworks to Ubisoft Shanghai in 2009 in an effort to speed up production.
Scheduled release dates have come and gone, with the game reportedly switching from a full retail release to a downloadable title earlier this year.
It looked like there was light at the end of the tunnel back in June when the game was rated for release by the Australian Classification Board, but nothing has been heard since.
It's unclear whether the leaked footage is from the final game or Darkworks' initial build.
We've contacted Ubisoft for comment and will update if we get a response.

And EG, Jade Raymond shot down that rumour that the game was going to PSN. Its a full, disc based game. I don't understand why you keep publishing that incorrect article every time you mention the game.

Such a shame really - the concept itself was a most intriguing one.

I liked the very first trailer of this; it looked like a lush and interesting survival adventure.
Judging from this video, things have been scaled down a lot and it now looks a bit like a low-cost Uncharted in a gritty setting (purely from a gameplay perspective).
Which could still be quite good and it does still look kind of interesting. Will this be a full priced thing or a download title?

Probably because original doesn't sell. People keep saying they want original but when those games come, they do not purchase the games and thus those type of games never get made again. Instead, you have to offer the current gamer something familiar so they will punt and have a few original ideals to see if they stick.
Case in point would be Uncharted. Definite not original but a few original parts. Looks pretty which gets the sales then add on a few more things in the sequels hoping to increase your customer base.

Actually, if it wasn't for Assassin's Creed i'd never look at Ubi's games, nevermind buy them.

Same vibe. Mostly from climbing and falling artifact, and from bit of everything, this smells like the latest Alone in the Dark. Hope it's polished

You could have picked a better example than Uncharted.
Uncharted is a new IP this gen, and although it 'borrowed' a lot of proven ideas, the reason it sells well is because it's just better than the games it took its gameplay mechanics from. It has taken cinematic gaming to a whole new level. It sold well because it's simply exceptionally well done.
A better example would have been Call Of Duty.
I think the problem lies deeper than gamers not wanting original stuff. Games are too expensive to make, the audience relatively small and so big studios can't afford taking risks. People DO still want original stuff: Games like Braid, Limbo and Flower sold great numbers. Big budget titles need to please big audiences, so they are by nature aimed at that. It's the same with movies.
