I Am Alive gameplay trailer, screens leak

M.I.A Ubisoft adventure shows its face.

A gameplay trailer and screens of long-in-the-offing Ubisoft adventure I Am Alive have been leaked onto the net.

First spotted over on NeoGAF, two YouTube clips posted by someone called billvonkova show a full gameplay trailer as well as a montage of screenshots. You can see both below.

The game - which sees you attempting to survive a series of natural disasters - has had a troubled history. First announced way back in 2008, development moved from French developer Darkworks to Ubisoft Shanghai in 2009 in an effort to speed up production.

Scheduled release dates have come and gone, with the game reportedly switching from a full retail release to a downloadable title earlier this year.

It looked like there was light at the end of the tunnel back in June when the game was rated for release by the Australian Classification Board, but nothing has been heard since.

It's unclear whether the leaked footage is from the final game or Darkworks' initial build.

We've contacted Ubisoft for comment and will update if we get a response.

"I Am Alive is out now on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360."

    Oh really?
  • God_Octo #2 9 months ago

Yay! I've been waiting for this game for ages. The gameplay looks fun - especially shooting people with arrows- and the grey and red art style is different. I'm not sure its final though- some of it looks untextured. And the main character's definitely changed too- lets hope he's got some personality to him.

And EG, Jade Raymond shot down that rumour that the game was going to PSN. Its a full, disc based game. I don't understand why you keep publishing that incorrect article every time you mention the game.

Aw, a bit disappointed... Wasn't this supposed to be a survival horror game?
  • TDXUK #4 9 months ago

Yet another crappy ubisoft DRM bloated piece of junk? No thanks.......
  • coolbritannia #5 9 months ago

looks a bit disappointing to me.
  • Daddy-Doom-Bar #6 9 months ago

If it's a full retail release, why does it LOOK like an XBLA game? I'm pretty disappointed by the look of it if it is.
  • CaptainQuint #7 9 months ago

Oh how disappointing; it's just another Tomb Raider/Prince of Persia clone; albeit one set upon the background of an apocalypse. I bet it got delayed for that very reason.

Such a shame really - the concept itself was a most intriguing one.
  • matseffect #8 9 months ago

Looks very interesting but nowhere near finished.
  • funkateer #9 9 months ago

    That looks quite grey :)
I liked the very first trailer of this; it looked like a lush and interesting survival adventure.
Judging from this video, things have been scaled down a lot and it now looks a bit like a low-cost Uncharted in a gritty setting (purely from a gameplay perspective).
Which could still be quite good and it does still look kind of interesting. Will this be a full priced thing or a download title?
  • Iain815 #10 9 months ago

Well, I thought the trailer looked good.
  • richarddavies #11 9 months ago

Going off the graphics it looks like it might be the old build at a guess. The concept looks good though.
  • peppergomez #12 9 months ago

God help them, in this marketplace with amazing-looking upcoming games. I AM ALIVE (AT LEAST UNTIL I AM RELEASED)
  • kassmageant #13 9 months ago

why the hell it looks like assassins creed? first trailers indicated that it will be some survival adventure game, not yet another parkour extravaganza. it doesn't look that bad, but nothing original as earlier concepts suggested : /

Probably because original doesn't sell. People keep saying they want original but when those games come, they do not purchase the games and thus those type of games never get made again. Instead, you have to offer the current gamer something familiar so they will punt and have a few original ideals to see if they stick.

Case in point would be Uncharted. Definite not original but a few original parts. Looks pretty which gets the sales then add on a few more things in the sequels hoping to increase your customer base.

Meh. Guns? Bands of evil guys. Looks like The Road, when it could have been like Alive... or those great 70s Disaster movies... :(
  • ChanceSplinter #16 9 months ago

Wow... after that teaser all those years ago I can't say I was very interested in this game - but the gameplay video? Sold. I want this game. This seems like the next step in Ubisoft Montreal's delicious mastery of the platforming genre.

    Take my monies.
  • Hantheman #17 9 months ago

Could it be more grey please.

Err, Assassin Creed was pretty original.

Reminds me of Alone in the Dark crossed with platforming from PoP / AC. Doesn't look nearly as interesting though as the initial concept sounded though.
  • toby182 #20 9 months ago

It's definitely a xbla game because it has the options of "Leaderboards", "Achievements" and "Help and Options" in the pause menu like all other xbla games.
  • Twin_snakes #21 9 months ago

Lots of games have those options, it proves nothing.
  • gm914 #22 9 months ago

    Oh it's Ubisoft?
    "I AM AVOIDING"
  • orangpelupa #23 9 months ago

only xbla games have those in menu.

retail games "hides" them in stylized menu.
  • Caimbeul #24 9 months ago

    But its a ubisoft game...
  • menage #25 9 months ago

I could swear I've seen this 2 years ago already.
  • IncredibleKoosh #26 9 months ago

Thought this had changed to an FPS? So this may be old footage.

Also I think it looks alright - like a glossier SOS Final Escape
  • Dapper_Dan #27 9 months ago

Not really interested in this, but seeing as Ubisoft screwed me and many others over with it's ridiculous DRM, I'm gonna pirate I Am Alive purely out of spite.
  • Ywap #28 9 months ago

Looks very interesting. Hope it doesn´t get cancelled.
  • azizur #29 9 months ago

Wow. An article where everyone starts hating on a game like a bunch of retards. On Eurogamer!

    Who would've thought?
  • metalangel #30 9 months ago

The story now looks almost completely different from the (completely nonsensical) original. Is this why it's been stuck so long, because they've more or less started from scratch?
  • Braincleaner #31 9 months ago

why does this smell of "Alone in The Dark"?
  • HyperTails #32 9 months ago

Looks like a massive pile of crap. If that thing released there's no way in hell i'd buy that.

Actually, if it wasn't for Assassin's Creed i'd never look at Ubi's games, nevermind buy them.

Why at 50 seconds is there a shadow of someone getting raped?
  • scuffpuppies #34 9 months ago

Please don't screw this up. The 'disaster movie' style concept remains one of the few remaining genres to be fully explored. If a developer were to combine 'The Day After Tomorrow', 'The Towering Inferno', 'Earthquake' style settings together, a 'Disaster Game' genre would be incredible.

    @Braincleaner

Same vibe. Mostly from climbing and falling artifact, and from bit of everything, this smells like the latest Alone in the Dark. Hope it's polished

"Probably because original doesn't sell. People keep saying they want original but when those games come, they do not purchase the games...
...Case in point would be Uncharted."

You could have picked a better example than Uncharted.
Uncharted is a new IP this gen, and although it 'borrowed' a lot of proven ideas, the reason it sells well is because it's just better than the games it took its gameplay mechanics from. It has taken cinematic gaming to a whole new level. It sold well because it's simply exceptionally well done.

A better example would have been Call Of Duty.

I think the problem lies deeper than gamers not wanting original stuff. Games are too expensive to make, the audience relatively small and so big studios can't afford taking risks. People DO still want original stuff: Games like Braid, Limbo and Flower sold great numbers. Big budget titles need to please big audiences, so they are by nature aimed at that. It's the same with movies.

Getting a strong SOS vibe from this game and liking it.
  • TackyCheeba #38 9 months ago

Wait..so this is now an FPS? If so...i am now watching this game.

Really can't be arsed with the whole "Over The Shoulder" conkaz. Gimme immersion sir. *Doff*
