FIFA 12 an autumn Xperia Play exclusive

Other Android devices wait until Feb 2012.

FIFA 12 will be a timed Xperia Play (Android) exclusive, Eurogamer can reveal.

Xperia Play owners can play the football game this "holiday" (autumn), whereas all other Android device owners will have to wait until 21st February 2012.

On Xperia Play, FIFA 12 will apparently run at 60 frames-per-second thanks to the machine's extra graphical clout. Audio has been polished up for Xperia Play, too.

Sony Ericsson released Minecraft Pocket Edition as an Xperia Play exclusive today. Eurogamer now understands that Minecraft Pocket Edition is a timed exclusive as well, although there's no word yet on when the other Android versions will launch.

It's really not like people are going to buy two phones in order to play another game on a mobile device, is it.

    What an excercise in pointlessness.

It's been 2 days since you run any COD or BF3 news.
Have they been cancelled or something? How am I supposed to function in a news blackout???

My god, give me some screenshots or tenuous financial claims, PLEASE.

i know exclusives have to start somewhere but as vyseofhr says, you only own one phone usually. and you own that phone for give or take 24 months. so whats the point? having developers that work on a particular platform, makes sense but "timed exclusives" to me don't make business sense.

Feb 2012 for other handsets? Is that about the same time they'll have made a half arsed attempt at fixing the console versions?

For people asking "What's the point?" - the point is to convince people looking to buy a phone to choose the Xperia Play, based on the strength of its games line-up.

For the record, Google now activates 500,000 handsets a day - just because you're in the middle of a contract, doesn't mean everyone else is too.
