Need for Speed's Super Sports pack

New cars, Trophies and Achievements.

Criterion's announced Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit's first premium downloadable content pack.

The Super Sports content pack adds 13 new race and pursuit events and three new supercars: Porsche 911 GT2 RS, GUMPERT Apollo S and Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport. Each is available as a cop and a racer.

The video announcing the pack, which you can see below, confirms the addition of fresh Achievements and Trophies. New events include "Cut to the Chase", "Pushing the Envelope" and "Any Means Necessary".

It's out on 21st December on Xbox 360 (560 Microsoft Points) and 22nd December on PlayStation 3 (£5.49).

While the Super Sports pack is the first premium DLC for Criterion's arcade racer, content is already available to buy.

The Racer Timesaver Pack and the SPCD Timesaver pack unlock all of the cars on each side of the law. Each pack costs 320 Microsoft Points.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is "an unqualified triumph", according to Eurogamer editor Tom Bramwell. "For Need for Speed, it's a return to critical form to match, justify and potentially expand the series' enduring popularity."

It's not the first Premium DLC, they have already released the Rebels pack which contained some Racer cars that were previously only available as Cop cars.

@Jimster I presume when Criterion say premium DLC, they mean DLC with actual races + Trophies/Achievments and not just new cars.

There is no way in hell I'm paying £5.50 for 13 new cop and racer challenges (is that each?). I got the game for £31 new so DLC at 1/6 of the price is too much for me. The only thing is that My 100% plat for the game will be gone which I'm sure will get on my nerves.

No it's not. An unlock code is available to buy, which is a very different thing.

^^ There also goes my 100% acheivement progress. I probably wont be buying this, seems expensive for a few new races which I will only play the once.

Don't forget the 1Million Youtube View challenge, 400K views left till the December 12th deadline.
Achieving that will mean that set of DLC will be FREE!

Cool, got 800pts for my gold deal a while back. Consider 560 of those spent on this then.

Seems pointless considering the number of the same cars in their different guises anyway. They all get a bit anonamous and it doesnt seem to matter what the exceleration or top speed are inside the different classes.

The new modes might be fun, but again, fragmented audience and all that...

How lovely of EA to acknowledge that the PC version of their game exists and announce DLC for it too...

Oh sorry, I was day-dreaming there for a moment!

To EG: EA might have you convinced otherwise but NFS: Hot Pursuit *is* also available on the PC... ;)

@Lee_Morris You will still keep your plat, but not having 100% of the trophies might grate a bit. Same thing happened for me with burnout paradise on xbox (I did get 100% of the trophies on PS3 though).

I will get the DLC, looking forward to some more events to try and some more achievements to unlock.

ouch out same day as BF:BC2 Vietnam

When they added cars to Burnout Paradise, they were awesome and different. Like the DeLorean themed car and the Toy pack. This announcement is really disappointing, as well as being pricey (over a fiver?!) and only 1 really new car (the Gumpert Apollo) as the other two have very similar versions in the game.
The game is great but I hope they get more inventive with the DLC in the future.

How about an option to switch all the fucking cutscenes off? I'd pay £6 for that.

    No autolog friends? :)

The cutscenes hide loading - you don't want them off.

    @brod
I played it at a mate's house and he had no friends that had the game so the autolog feature became pretty redundant. It heavily relies on others buying the game and from the looks of it not that many people have bought it.

Back on topic, this pack is ridiculous. £6 for 3 cars that are re-skinned twice and a couple of new tracks that are probably just rehashed original tracks with new start and finish points is totally absurd. I always have to ask the question 'Why didn't they put this in the original game?' seems pretty lazy to me.

Thats the EA we all know!
